history_pic.jpgHISTORY OF THE ELEMENT CALCIUM

Calcium was found during the time of the Ancient Romans, (early as the first century), but it was known as calcium oxide, (it was combined). Later in 1808 it was isolated as just calcium by Sir Humphry Davy, he "electrolyzed" a mixture of the lime in mercury. This ended up separating the mixture and finding just "calcium" in the end. Sir Humphry Davy also isolated or discovered sodium, potassium, magnesium, barium and boron.
